Product Detail

This ACT 6-pad rigid racing clutch disc (Model 6228018) is crafted for high - performance driving. It fits multiple Subaru models, including the 2002 - 2018 WRX, 2005 - 2012 Legacy GT, 2005 - 2009 Outback XT, and 2004 - 2008 Forester XT. However, starting from mid - 2018MY production with VIN J*806877, Subaru incorporated 240mm clutch components, and this ACT disc isn't compatible with the revised OEM parts. Made from top - quality ceramic friction materials, it offers an aggressive engagement for quicker shifts, though it may cause more gear rattle. The disc uses high - grade rivets for secure fastening, designed for maximum strength. It's ideal for larger clutch sizes, absorbing more heat and enabling smoother engagement. It's recommended for high - horsepower street or race use, boasting high burst strength and holding 28% more torque than typical organic materials. It comes with a limited retail warranty and follows ACT's general installation instructions. Remember, ACT race discs are too aggressive for daily street use. They can cause judder and noise when starting from a stop. For daily driving, an organic disc is a better choice for a smoother ride. When it comes to replacement, most new discs are 0.312 - 0.315 inches (7.93 - 8.00mm) thick and should be replaced when they reach 0.275 inches (7.00mm) or less. Some Audi and BMW applications start at 0.332 - 0.335 inches (8.43 - 8.50mm) and need replacement below 0.295 inches (7.50mm). Use a micrometer for measurement, and measure organic street discs by compressing the engagement cushion. If the lining rivets touch the flywheel or pressure plate, replace the disc immediately. Using a disc outside the pressure plate's designed working range can lead to poor results.

Using this ACT 6 - pad rigid racing clutch disc is straightforward. First, follow ACT's general installation instructions carefully during the installation process. When using it, expect an aggressive engagement and quick shifts, but be aware that there will be more gear rattle. This disc is great for high - horsepower street or race use, but it's not suitable for daily driving on the street. The harsh engagement can cause judder and noise when starting from a stop. For everyday driving, switch to an organic disc. As for maintenance, regularly check the thickness of the disc. Use a micrometer to measure it. If the disc thickness reaches the replacement limit (0.275 inches or 7.00mm for most, 0.295 inches or 7.50mm for some Audi and BMW applications), it's time to replace it. Also, keep an eye on the lining rivets. If they touch the flywheel or pressure plate, replace the disc right away. Avoid using a disc that's too thick or thin for the pressure plate's designed working range, as it can lead to poor performance.
